Solano Car Seat Connection
CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY PROGRAM

Solano Car Seat Connection is a family-oriented education program led and coordinated by the Health Promotion and Community Wellness Bureau.

Solano Car Seat Connection promotes the correct use of child passenger safety seats (car seats) through hands-on classes, educational campaigns and free car seat inspections.

California Law
As of January, 2012, all children under 8 years old are required to be properly secured in a belt-positioning booster seat, placed in the back seat of the vehicle. The only exception is a child who is 4-feet 9-inches in height or taller.

The problem - Parents, expectant parents and caregivers are often uninformed or misinformed about motor vehicle safety. Statistics show that 4 out of 5 children are improperly restrained when riding in the family car.
Services Include:
  • FREE educational classes in English and Spanish in most cities of the county
  • Gift certificates to assist low-income families with the purchase of car seats
  • FREE safety check points and monthly inspections where trained technicians examine car seats for correct installation (all incomes are eligible)
  • Public awareness campaigns
To offer classes and inspections throughout the county, we collaborate with the following community organizations:
    California Highway Patrol (CHP)
Dixon Women, Infants & Children (WIC)
    NorthBay ABC Prenatal Clinic
    Vacaville WIC
Recall Information
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration maintains a continually updated list of child passenger seat recalls on their website at NHTSA
