Accountant-Auditor I
Job Description
The class of Accountant-Auditor is found only in the Auditor-Controller's Office. For purposes of staff development, incumbents in this class are rotated among a variety of accounting and auditing assignments and may be assigned accounting duties in the General Accounting, Property Tax/Grants, or Financial Systems Divisions of the Auditor-Controller's Office, or may be assigned auditing duties in the Internal Audit Division. The Accountant-Auditor class is distinguished from the Accountant class in that the duties of the Accountant-Auditors is broader in scope, encompassing county-wide responsibilities for financial activities as opposed to departmental activities; in addition Accountant-Auditors may be assigned auditing duties.
Experience/Education
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferably in business administration, finance, financial management, auditing or accounting. Course work must have included 30 semester or 45 quarter units of upper division courses in accounting and/or auditing.
Accountant-Auditor II

Accounting Clerk I
Job Description
Depending on the Accounting Clerk level, incumbents in this class may perform a variety of clerical, bookkeeping and statistical reporting tasks using an automated accounting system.
Experience/Education
High school diploma or GED supplemented by six (6) months full-time work experience in financial record keeping work. Three (3) units of college level coursework in accounting may substitute for half of the experience requirement. Six (6) units of college level coursework in accounting may substitute for the entire experience requirement.
Accounting Clerk II
Job Description
Depending on the Accounting Clerk level, incumbents in this class may perform a variety of clerical, bookkeeping and statistical reporting tasks using an automated accounting system.
Experience/Education
High school diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year full-time work experience in financial record-keeping work. Six (6) units of college level coursework in accounting may substitute for half of the experience requirement. Twelve (12) units of college level coursework in accounting may substitute for the entire experience requirement.
Accounting Supervisor
Job Description
Under general direction, plans, organizes and supervises the work of a unit of accounting/clerical staff; assists in the development and implementation of an account records system; serves as a member of the department's supervisory team; performs other related duties as required.
Experience/Education
Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six (6) units in accounting classes; supplemented by three (3) years of full-time work experience, including eighteen (18) months of lead worker experience.
Accounting Technician
Job Description
Under supervision, performs advanced accounting support, bookkeeping and statistical reporting and recording activities and/or leads the work of a unit performing these tasks; processes accounts payable and receivable; posts financial transactions to automated accounting system; researches and audits claims for accuracy and completeness; balances statements and produces fiscal reports; assists in budget preparation and projections; may assist in the development and implementation of an account records system and automated fuel system; performs other related duties as required.
Education and/or Experience
Associate's Degree with major course work in accounting; supplemented by two (2) years of full timework experience.
Auditor-Controller
Job Description
Under statutory direction, plans, organizes and directs the office of the Auditor-Controller; serves as chief accounting officer of the County; serves as a member of the County's executive management team.
Experience/Education
Since this class describes a single position elected official, qualifications are governed by the California Codes.
Assistant Auditor-Controller
Job Description
Under general direction, plans, organizes and manages the daily operations of the Auditor-Controller's office; serves as a member of the department's management/ supervisory team.
Experience/Education
Progressively responsible experience in accounting and/or auditing including substantial governmental accounting and auditing experience, which demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Typical qualifying experience would be:
Five years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in a public agency which include professional auditing and/or accounting experience, program planning, analysis and evaluation, budget management and performance and equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or a closely related field.
Chief Deputy Auditor-Controller
Job Description
Under general direction, assists in tasks related to the evaluation, maintenance, and improvement of the financial information system and the Human Resources information system; identifies, develops, and assists in the installation of the complex automated accounting systems for the County, Special Districts, and other agencies; assists in the definition and development of systems policies and procedures; performs other related duties as required.
Experience/Education
Considerable professional accounting experience coupled with additional experience, education and/or training in governmental accounting and auditing principles and practices which demonstrate possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Typical qualifying education and experience would be:
Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field. Course work must have included at least 30 upper division semester units of accounting in the following courses: Principles of Accounting; Intermediate Accounting; Advanced Accounting; Governmental Accounting; or Auditing. Lead of supervisory experience is desirable. Certified Public Accountant also highly desirable.
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting/auditing experience, two years of which should include the design and installation of automated accounting systems. Governmental accounting experience is highly desirable.
Deputy Auditor-Controller - Internal Audits
Job Description
Under general direction, plans, supervises and performs professional level financial, compliance and operational audits; provides staff support to the Assistant Auditor-Controller; performs other related duties as required.
Experience/Education
Considerable professional auditing experience coupled with additional experience, education and/or training in local government accounting and auditing principles and practices. Typical qualifying education and experience would be:

Three years of progressively responsible professional auditing experience in local government, two years of which are at a level equivalent to a journey level Auditor in Solano County resolving complex and difficult problems and equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with 30 upper division units of course work in accounting, finance or closely related field which demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Lead or supervisory experience is desirable.
Deputy Auditor-Controller - Property Tax/Grants
Job Description
Under general direction, plans, organizes, and directs the operations of a multi-function division in the Auditor-Controller's Office; provides policy direction on fiscal, accounting, and financial record keeping issues to staff and other County departments; supervises professional and technical accounting staff; performs professional level accounting duties; performs other related duties are required.
Experience/Education
Considerable professional accounting experience coupled with additional experience, education and/or training in governmental accounting and auditing principles and practices which demonstrate possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Typical qualifying education and experience would be:

Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field. Course work must have included at least 30 upper division semester units of accounting in the following courses: Principles of Accounting; Intermediate Accounting; Advanced Accounting; Governmental Accounting; Cost Accounting; or Auditing. Lead or supervisory experience is desirable. Certified Public Accountant also highly desirable.

Experience: Four years of progressively responsible professional accounting/auditing experience. Governmental accounting experience is highly desirable.
Fixed Assets Control Technician
Job Description
Under direction, maintains and updates inventory accounting records systems. This single position classification describes a staff support function performed in the Auditor-Controller's Office. The incumbent performs tasks that relate to continuous inventorying, labeling and recording of and accounting for fixed assets within the County; performs related duties as required.
Experience/Education
Six months of experience in clerical and technical accounting and/or bookkeeping practices as applied to inventory procedures and specifications.
Information Technology Specialist - Senior
Job Description
Under consistent direction, provides advanced level technical support and assistance to users of multiple data business systems within assigned department; acts as lead to other Information Technology Specialists and user teams in the implementation and maintenance of various specialized and computerized systems; provides technical and specialized hardware and software support to users; performs a variety of business and administrative functions relative to information technology; and participates as a responsible, cooperative, and positive team member.
Experience/Education
Equivalent to an associates degree, including eighteen (18) units, in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Networking or a closely related field OR one hundred twenty (120) hours (fifteen days) of designated coursework and/or certification training.

At least two (2) years of experience performing duties and functions similar in scope, responsibility, and technical expertise to the County's Information Technology Specialist II.
Office Coordinator
Job Description
Under direction, assists in administrative functions of a department or division; assists with functions including, but not limited to monitoring the budget, accounting, purchasing, processing payroll, data processing, handling complaints, and providing guidance to clerical personnel; performs other related work as required.
Experience/Education
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of full-time work experience in general office.
Payroll Officer
Job Description
Under direction, plans, organizes and supervises County payroll operations; serves as a member of the department's supervisory team.
Experience/Education
Considerable experience in payroll accounting, which includes some lead or supervisory experience, which demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge abilities.
