Doing Business with Solano County
June 4, 2014
Fairfield, California – The Solano College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Solano County will be hosting a free "Doing Business with Solano County" event on Thursday, June 12th from 1 pm- 5 pm at the Solano County Government Center multi-purpose room 1600-1620, 675 West Texas Street, Fairfield.
Attendees of this free event will learn about opportunities to sell to the County including formal and informal bidding processes. Diane Luna, Manager of the Central Services Division, will be presenting on “Doing Business with Solano County” which will provide an opportunity for businesses to learn about what the County buys, how to sell to the County, how to register as a vendor, and how to get paid by the County. Following the presentation there will be a panel discussion consisting of buyers from the County. Robert Lane, government procurement specialist with the Solano College SBDC, will also be conducting a mini-workshop on preparing to do business with government agencies at the event.
According to Charles Rieger, Director of the Solano College SBDC, “Selling to federal, state, and local governments is an excellent way for small business to diversify their customer base. During the economic downturn, spending by federal, state, and local governments helped counterbalance the decline in the private sector. Government entities have funds to spend and are eager to do business with small businesses.”
