Auditor-Controller's Office recognized for excellence in financial reporting

The norm of excellence at the Solano County Auditor-Controller’s Office has once again earned it the recognition of the Government Finance Officers Association.
For the eleventh consecutive year, the department has earned the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement in Excellence in Financial Reporting. The latest award is for Solano County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012.
"This certificate of excellence is our annual seal of approval and reflects the day-to-day professionalism of this office in preparing financial statements and reports that are reliable and transparent," said Simona Padilla-Scholtens, Solano County Auditor-Controller.
The GFOA describes the award as the “highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its fiscal management.”
The County’s financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the document.
“Attaining this award continues to be significant accomplishment for the County and the Auditor-Controller’s Office,” Padilla-Scholtens said. “I would especially like to recognize Sheila Turgo, Magen Yambao, Renee Phillips and Tony Manliclic for their dedication and contribution in the preparation of the award-winning CAFR.”
