Can I return an animal that I’ve adopted to the shelter?
Within 21 days of adoption you are able to receive a full refund of adoption fees. Greater than 21 days the adopter can return the animal without a refund. Greater then 60 days is no longer a return it is then considered an owner surrender and fees will apply.
How can I become an Animal Shelter volunteer?
Download the applications from the website, www.solanocounty.com, Sheriff's Office SAVE Program. You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer unless a parent or guardian accompanies you. You may return the application to the shelter or follow the instructions on the application.

I’ve found a pet. What do I do?
There are 2 options. You may keep the animal at your residence or take it to the nearest shelter. If you decide to keep the animal at home, the shelter will fill out a found report and post it in the facility. The animals information will be checked against animals that have been reported as lost or missing. We also suggest that you post an ad in the local newspaper.
My pet is missing, what do I do?
To check the shelter for your animal you should come in and look at all the animals in person every 2 days. It is also recommended that you place an ad in your local newspaper with your pets information. If your animal has a micro chip and you are the registered owner, bring in proper identification and be prepared to pay boarding and licensing fees (if applicable). Your dog REQUIRES a rabies vaccination certificate, enclose a copy (not the original) of the certificate with the renewal or application along with your payment (check or money order) and mail to: Solano County Dog Licensing 4160 Suisun Valley Rd, Ste E428 Suisun City, CA 94585 Animal Care also excepts payments and applications which are mailed to PetData an agency contracted to process applications. Licensing fees vary based on if the dog is spayed/ neutered, if there is a late fee and how many years are purchased. License fees are payable in person via credit, debit card, cash, money orders or cashiers check.
