Can I return an animal that I’ve adopted to the shelter?
Within 21 days of adoption you are able to receive a full refund of adoption fees. Greater then 21 days the adopter can return the animal without a refund. Greater then 60 days is no longer a return it is then considered an owner surrender.

How can I become a pet volunteer or do pet community service?
You can contact Solano County Animal Care Services Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. 707.784.1356. You can also download the applications from the website, www.solanocounty.com, general services, animal care, and volunteer program. You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer unless a parent or guardian accompanies you.

How much does it cost to adopt a dog or cat?
Dog adoptions are $85 with an additional fee of $20 for licensing.
Cat adoptions are $75.
Rabbit adoptions are $10. 
If the animals are old enough for rabies vaccinations they are an additional $5.
All other animal adoption fees vary by type.

I’ve found a pet. What do I do?
There are 2 options. You may keep the animal at your residence or take it to the nearest shelter. If you decide to keep the animal at home, the shelter will fill out a found report and post it in the facility. The animals information will be checked against animals that have been reported as lost or missing. We also suggest that you post an ad in the local newspaper.

My pet is missing, what do I do?
To check the shelter for your animal you should come in and look at all the animals in person every 2 days. It is also recommended that you place an ad in your local newspaper with your pets information. If your animal has a smart chip and you are the registered owner, bring in proper identification and be prepared to pay storage and licensing fees (if applicable). Our Helpline message center is available anytime. After leaving your message, you can expect a return call, usually within 24 hours, except Sundays and County Holidays

Where can I get my dog licensed?
If your dog does not require a rabies certificate you can renew online at www.solanocounty.com, general services, and animal care services. If your dog REQUIRES a rabies vaccination certificate, enclose a copy (not the original) of the certificate with the renewal form along with your payment (check or money order) and mail to: Solano County Dog Licensing 4160 Suisun Valley Rd, Ste E428 Suisun City, CA 94585 Animal Care also excepts payments and applications which are mailed to PetData an agency contracted to process applications.  Licensing fees vary based on if the dog is spayed/ neutered, if there is a late fee and how many years are purchased.

Where can I go to spay/neuter my pet? How much will it cost?
Call to make an appointment Monday thru Friday 8:30am-6:00pm 707.784.1356.   Spay and neutering for pets outside the shelter only happens once a month on the first Wednesday of the month. Adopted pets can be done thesame day or another day of the week.
