Concealed Weapons License

Residents of Solano County may apply to the Solano County Sheriff’s Office for a CCW License.

California citizens are not required to obtain a concealed carry license in order to legally own a firearm, and citizens are not required to obtain a CCW license in order to carry a firearm on their private property, including any business property they may own.  You should only apply for a concealed carry license if you have a need to protect yourself by carrying a firearm concealed while away from your residence or your business property.

The Sheriff’s Instruction Letter for Obtaining a License to Carry a Concealed Weapon is under review/revision. 

In addition to submitting an application, various supporting documentation is required.  Until the revised Sheriff’s Instruction letter is complete, please reference the information below to help you complete your application…

Standard Application Submission

  • Complete application form in its entirety
  • Sign everywhere a signature is required
  • Attach a copy of your California Driver’s License
  • Attach copies of two current, consecutive months utility bills for proof of residence
  • If applying for business related purposes/business protection, attach a copy of your current business license
  • No fees are collected at time of application

Renewal Application Submission

  • Follow directions for Standard application
  • In addition, you will need to submit the following with your packet...
    • Proof of Training
    • Proof of Qualification
    • Renewal Fees
      • Call for fees

 Modification Application for Weapon Change

  • Complete application in its entirety and sign
  • Attach proof of weapon qualification
  • Submit applicable modification fee
    • Call for fee

Modification Application for Address Change

  •  Complete application in its entirety and sign
  • Attach a copy of current California Driver’s License with new address
    • If you have not received your new license, provide a copy of your change of address request from DMV
  • Attach copies of two current, consecutive months utility bills for proof of residence
  • Submit applicable modification fee
    • Call for fee
