Create Jobs Program

The Create Jobs Subidized Employment program has changed as of August 1, 2011.

Overview for Employers

  • Private, non-profit, and public sector employers may participate
  • Subsidized employees are hired by the employer; employer handles payroll and deductions
  • Positions can range from 20 to 40 hours per week
  • Employers may interview and select potential employees from a group of pre-screened candidates
  • The program's goal is long term retention of the newly hired employee
  • Employers must sign a wage subsidy agreement prior to hire to qualify for reimbursement
    • Employers will be reimbursed for 50 percent of wage costs up to $24 per hour for six months
    • Employment must begin after the agreement is signed
  • Employers must meet non-displacement provisions and continue to comply with terms of collective bargaining agreements and standard hiring processes (e.g. competitive testing), if applicable
